There aren't a lot of things that get me as musically excited as a new Sigur Rós album!! These guys haven't really released anything new since their last amazing record "Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust" (With a Buzz in Our Ears We Play Endlessly) in 2008.
But finally, these guys are back working on their new 7 track LP 'Valtari.'

Sigur Rós, named after frontman Jónsi's little sister Sigourney Rose (fun fact), is known for their very unique sound. Their dreamy, compelling instrumentals flow flawlessly under Jonsi's beautiful vocals. You don't even need to understand the words he's singing, it's like you can feel what he's trying to say just from listening (doesn't stop me from singing along though). I don't think this band has the ability to put out a bad album, they're just too unbelievable, so i'm pretty psyched for this one. The members of the band described the new material they've been working on as "floaty," "minimal," and "introverted." (Yes.) They've already released one of their songs off the LP called “Ekki Múkk,” which, upon first listen, transported me to some alternate universe where no one grows old and the days are spent running through fields of wheat and kissing amongst the sunflowers. Oh... weird. Sigur rós always takes me on some sort of journey. Where will they take you?
Also, if you're not familiar with them, check out their music videos. You're truly missing out if you don't.
